George A. Ewart, AIA, Principal in Charge

As a principal, George manages the firm, determines design philosophy and maintains client relationships. His technical expertise and design background provide him with a unique perspective on architectural commissions, allowing him to accommodate all the various parameters involved.

Since 1981, George has provided programming, master planning and facility design for healthcare and medical facilities, religious, office, educational, industrial, retail and commercial building types.

George received a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology from West Virginia State College. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and licensed in the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.

Stuart H. Anderson, AIA, LEED AP, Project Architect

Stuart’s position as a project architect brings with it the responsibilities of overall project management, including design and production coordination. With more than 26 years of technical and design experience, Stuart has worked on a number of unique and challenging projects of various scales and types. Stuart received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee.
He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, licensed in the state of Tennessee, and is a LEED accredited professional.

Greg Armour, RA, LEED AP, Project Architect

Greg has more than 16 years of experience in planning and design which includes work on schools, commercial projects, religious facilities, public housing, and private residences. Greg’s passion for sustainability led him to create a curriculum in sustainability for Pellissippi State Community College, where he is the program coordinator.
He received his Masters of Arts, Architecture, from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is licensed in the state of Tennessee, and is a LEED accredited professional.

Christina R. Fehr, Interior Designer

Christina graduated from Ryerson University, in Toronto Canada June 2014, with a Bachelors in Interior Design. Her unique travels have given her experience in the industry from both Canada and the U.S, some of which include restaurants, retail, institutional, office commercial and residential design.

As interior designer, Christina finds herself working and coordinating between architecture and interiors, balancing aesthetic with function. Whether it be selecting materials, space planning, or coordinating with vendors attention to detail is key.

Greg E. Slack, Draftsman

Mr. Slack has worked within the architectural profession for 9 years.  His experience includes residential, commercial, medical and professional.

Mr. Slack has a great desire to learn and does so very quickly.  This has helped him in working with the various projects he has helped design.

Cara L. Jones, Controller

Cara joined GAEA in April 2009 as the firm’s controller. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2003 with a B.S. in Business Administration Accounting.

Cindy Ewart, Office Administrator

Cindy’s experiences include insurance and account management, secretarial and reception duties.  Her extensive working knowledge of various computer programs provides efficent services for the day-to-day operations of the office.  Due to her management skills, you can be assured that any questions or concerns you may have will be directed to the appropriate person.

Russell Hopper, NCARB

Russell brings over 20 years of experience to George Armour Ewart Architects as an architect and project manager. He has experience in a wide range of building types, including institutional, healthcare and residential architecture. Russell received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee and is certified by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards.

In addition to his career as an architect, Russell is a professional violin maker and musician. His work as an architect and violin maker has appeared in publications that include Better Homes and Gardens, Architecture Record, The New York Times and Alabama Magazine.

Jessica Bub, Architectural Associate

Jessica graduated the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors in Architecture in 2017. At UT she worked in the Materials Library and as a Teaching Assistant in a digital representation course. During her studies she also completed two internships and gained experience in commercial, residential, and restaurant design.

Jessica joins GAEA with extensive knowledge in various architectural programs and digital fabrication techniques, though she still loves to hand draft and sketch when she gets the chance. She hopes her skills will help continue to make the most of GAEA’s BIM capabilities.

Carlos Pinilla, Project Manager

Originally from La Paz, Bolivia, Carlos moved to Knoxville to pursue his degree in Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee. After graduating from UT, he’s spent the last 16 years designing building systems and developing conceptual ideas into believable construction documents.  Carlos has been recognized for his community service and was named to the Knoxville News Sentinel’s 40 under 40.

Nikki Coward,  Architectural Associate

Nikki is a 2017 graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she received a Bachelors in Architecture and Design. At the University of Tennessee, she worked in the Materials Library and as a LLC Peer Mentor to First and Second Year Architecture and Interior Design students.

Nikki joined the staff at GAEA in May of 2017 as an Architectural Associate. She brings with her an extensive knowledge of BIM modeling and hopes to use that to further the BIM modeling abilities at GAEA.
